A Road Less Traveled | God Morning #10

Updated: Aug 11

God Morning, my brothers and sisters!  Another great week coming to a close and hoping your weekend brings a bit of R &R, go hang out with family and friends.  I remember one crisp fall evening, I remember sitting around our firepit with young Jake, my wife and his parents, as he pondered a significant choice early in high school: stick with football, where his friends were, or try something unexpected—cross-country running. Without even being sure, he chose to run in a race that I attended, it was his first race, but it was clear: there was potential waiting to be discovered, a path less traveled that beckoned to him.

And as I think about this story, it brings me to our Friday Fly-by word of the week and it comes from Jeremiah 29:11 and it says, ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.’  Such an awesome verse. It had me wondering, maybe, inspired by these words, Jake chose the road less traveled. It was a leap of faith, a testament to believing in a plan far greater than any we could design ourselves. Just as in our careers and daily lives, stepping into the unknown can often lead us to our true potential.

Jake's journey wasn't just about running; it was a spiritual and physical marathon fueled by unwavering faith—faith that he was on the right path, even when it was lonely, even when it diverged sharply from where his friends went. Bonus Friday Fly-by verse from Hebrews 11:6 reminds us ‘And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.’ Jake's dedication, his choice to pursue what felt right deep in his spirit, even when it was hard, mirrors the kind of steadfast faith and perseverance we aspire to in our own lives.

His efforts bore fruit a couple of weeks ago, a couple of weeks away from his graduating with a master's in aerospace engineering, in a breathtaking victory at the Indy Mini Marathon. It wasn’t just about the physical triumph but about realizing that when you trust in your path, commit wholeheartedly to your goals, and keep faith even in uncertainty, extraordinary things can happen.

Jake’s victory is a vivid reminder that when we dare to step out of our comfort zones, guided by faith and driven by a clear vision, we too can achieve what once seemed beyond our reach. Each of us faces these crossroads, in business and in life, where the easy path tempts us to stay comfortable, but a challenging new path promises growth and fulfillment.

Congratulations, Jake, on your stunning achievement! Your journey from that first uncertain race to becoming a marathon champion inspires us all to run with perseverance the race marked out for us, trusting that with faith, hard work, and a bit of courage, we will achieve extraordinary things.

Wishing you all a great weekend, hoping this story inspires you to travel the road less traveled but leads to the right destination called your journey.  Love you all and as always Be Blessed and Go Be a Blessing.
