God morning my brothers and sisters,Â
Â
Personally, we are in the heat of the moment, actually in a heatwave of a summer already, but this message has to do with the heat of the moment. I recently heard from a friend who, after 37 years in his position, found out that his job was being eliminated. He said it felt like he just got punched in the gut. His response, however, was remarkable… "For now, I am going to relax, reflect, and listen to what God is telling me. Plus, I'll spend the summer with my wife more!" His faith in such a challenging moment truly inspires me.Â
I deeply resonate with his situation because I've walked that path. Four years ago, after dedicating over 20 years to building a company, I found myself in a similar place. It was a sudden blow, leaving me anxious and afraid. It took me 3 days to even tell my wife. I remember that 4th of July weekend vividly; we were helping my son move, and on the 6-hour drive home, I finally found the courage to tell my wife about my job loss. She reassured me with powerful words from Philippians 4:6, reminding me to "be anxious for nothing."Â
I also remember at that moment, I felt a shift, I began to see the layoff as a blessing in disguise. I had been stuck in a toxic environment, justifying my stress and unhappiness. Losing that job forced me to re-evaluate my passions and strengths. It was a call to turn my anxieties over to God and trust in His plan.Â
God led me to a new company where I could refine my skills in training and coaching. I discovered how much I had to offer and how deeply I could serve others. The layoff also led me to a great friend and soon to be business partner, in Paul Waldrop. When this new company faced difficult times, I felt confident that I was going to be ok, maybe I need to take this time to build a company. My wife supported me and assured me that I could do this, especially with the help of my business partner, who had been my boss at the time. Together, we embraced our passion for coaching and consulting, building something new. Today, we celebrate our 1 year anniversary and feel Gods hands in all of this.Â
Reflecting on this journey, I realize how every challenge has been a step towards something greater. My friend's decision to trust in God's plan, to relax, reflect, and spend quality time with his loved ones, mirrors the very lesson I learned. Trust in God, be anxious for nothing, and embrace His path for you.Â
This reminded me of our Friday Fly-by word of the week, and it comes from Philippians 4:6 and it says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."Â Just more powerful words to live by.Â
No matter what challenges you face, remember that God has a plan for you. Turn your worries over to Him, trust in His timing, and embrace the journey ahead. Here is to your confidence in Him and that you can handle all things thru Him. I hope this brings you encouragement today and know that I love you all and as always, Be blessed and go be a blessing! Have a great weekend everyone!Â
